THE MEMBER of Parliament (MP) for the Upper Manya Krobo Constituency of the Eastern Region, Honourable Bismark Tetteh Nyarko has demonstrated his good leadership commitment to sympathize with traders that lost properties in the flood disaster which has rocked Akateng Market a couple of days ago.

The flood which began last week after the RiverVolta has overflowed its banks ravaged several shops of the market destroying properties worth thousands of Ghana Cedis.

The Akateng market hosts traders from across the Afram Plains, Accra, Ada, Kumasi , Asesewa and beyond.

This market generates lots of revenue for the Upper Manya Krobo District Assembly.
Most homes have been washed away while others, dangerously still stand in the river with visible cracks ready to succumb to the flood.

And as sympathy messages keep tripping in, the hard-working rushed to the Akateng community to console with the displaced victims and expressed pain for the affected traders.
The female legislator was taken round the affected areas by a community leader, Mr Adams.
According to Mr Adams, over a hundred homes and sheds for trading activities have been washed away.
The MP expressed the need to relocate the market to higher ground.

At the time of the visit of the MP, a team from Zoomlion Ghana Limited led by the District Manager were busy disinfecting the area and clearing unwanted materials out of the market.
Honourable Nyarko said “I share in the pain of traders and others who were affected by flood disaster and assured that he would bring the plight of the people to the attention of government as soon as the House resumes.
