The eight lawmakers have sponsored the bill, which was introduced in parliament. The bill would impose a maximum 10-year prison sentence on people who support and advocate for same-sex and gay rights. Individuals or groups would also not be allowed to provide social or medical support to LGBTQ+people.
Nii Kwashie Gborlor IV which declared war against same-sex and gay rights, told journalists at a crowed press conference held at Ngleshie Amanfro, that it is high time for the parliament to pass bill into the law because they had suspected foul play in the delay in the passage of the bil.
"I am appealing to all the traditional office holders across the country to rally behind me in the fight against the activities of LGBTQ+ people in Ghana," Nii Kwashie Gborlor IV stressed.
He pointed that the activities of LGBTQ+ people were completely against the culture traditions and norms in Ghana.
"It still baffles me because LGBTQ+ practice is against our culture, religion and even defies nature. No law allows such a devil thing in Ghana," Nii Kwashie Gborlor IV noted.
Nii Kwashie Gborlor IV stressed that they believed that the Speaker of the House, Alban Bagbin should walked with his own word that the anti-LGBT Bill currently before parliament will be passed before the next elections.
The Speaker, earlier asked the Committee working on the Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill to expedite works in presenting its report to the house for a debate.
Speaking at a media engagement, Rt. Honourable Alban Bagbin emphasized that “the sexual rights and human values Bill that is being handled by the committee will definitely be passed before the next elections. That Bill will go through.”
