THE GHANA Registered Nurses Association (GRNA) Branch in the Upper Manya Krobo District of the Eastern Region on Tuesday launched its one week celebration at Asesewa in the Eastern Region.

The theme of the celebration is "Nurses and Midwives --The Future."
The event was attended by dignitaries including the Honourable Member of Parliament (MP) for the Upper Manya Krobo constituency, Honourable Bismark Tetteh Nyarko and Mr Emmanuel Gbemu, the Administrator of the District Health Directorate who deputized for the District Director of Health Service (GHS), Mrs Oyinka.
In his keynote address, Honourable Nyarko said he appreciates the efforts and sacrifices of nurses and midwives in the remote areas in the District.
"I'm aware of the nature of our bad roads on which you travel on your motorcycles." " However, I appeal to you to stay and work in the district in spite of all odds."
He said he is also aware of the general economic hardship in Ghana that is forcing nurses and other health workers to seek greener pastures in countries like Barbados and the UK.
He appealed to them to be courteous to their clients as their attitude and approach to clients is part of the healing process.
The legislator donated an undisclosed amount of cash to the association.
On his part, the Administrator of the District Health Directorate, Mr Emmanuel Gbemu thanked the MP for his contribution to the Health Services in the district.
He mentioned the fumigation exercise and donation of illuminated roofing sheets to health care facilities, clinical equipment to the Plekumase CHPS, construction of the x-ray department and donation of very needed equipment to the Sekesua Health center, construction of the ANYABONI Resettlement MCHC, donation of much needed equipment to Asuom and Battorkope CHPS among others.
Mr Gbemu appealed to the MP to expedite the completion of the ANYABONI Resettlement MCHC and the rehabilitation of the Otrokper Health center.
A nurse asked the Honourable Member of PARLIAMENT to stay focused and deliver on his mandate to the admiration to the electorate who would renew his mandate.
"For your political opponents, even if you use gold to construct the road in Asesewa, they will it's not you who did it."
