Honourable George Boakye

The Ahafo Regional Minister, Honourable George Boakye, has warned Cocobod staff not to sabotage government policies on the cocoa sector.

He said this at the District staff durbar of the Cocoa Health and Extension Division (CHED-COCOBOD) at Sankore.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the Regional Minister to familiarize himself and interact with the staff of the organization.

Honourable George Boakye in his address commended President Akufo-Addo for his vision of increasing the Cocoa crop yield for the next four (4) years and hence the introduction of several interventions such as mass pruning, hand pollination and the latest Cocoa Rehabilitation Program.

The Minister warned that there should not be any deliberate attempt by any of the workers of Cocoabod in the area to discredit President Nana Akufo-Addo's government for such a great vision.

He assured the workers of his fullest support to their core mandate as supervisors/extension officers for the current Cocoa rehabilitation program.

He amongst other things advised the workers to desist from unnecessary partisanship approach to issues during the line of their duty.

Honourable George Boakye stressed the need for the numerous staff members at the gathering to work with each other in unity in order to achieve the best result for the Ahafo Region and Ghana at large.

He urged them to guard against corruption, nepotism and favouritism which are some of the factors that can hinder the success of the Cocoa Rehabilitation program.

The District Manager for the CHED-COCOBOD, Sankore District, Mr David Afriyie Gyebi, on behalf of the workers expressed profound gratitude to the Minister and his team for making time out of his busy schedules to visit them on such an important day.

He assured the Minister that he and his team will work hard to ensure that the Cocoa Rehabilitation Program and all other government interventions in the Cocoa sector will see the light of day.

The Ghana Cocoabod has forty (40) operational areas and operates in 216 communities in the Asunafo South Cocoa District.

There are one hundred and sixty-seven (167) permanent staff and one hundred and forty-seven (147) contract staff who have been employed as Technical Assistants for the Cocoa Rehabilitation program whilst about six thousand (6000) labourers to maintain the Rehabilitating farms in the Asunafo South Cocoa district.
