So far, the narrative of the Shatta/Stonebwoy concert at the University of Ghana
On Saturday, June 8, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, two of Ghana's top performers and likely competitors in the music industry, were scheduled to perform at separate concerts at the University of Ghana.
Shatta Wale was scheduled to perform at James Top Nelson Yankah Hall (TF hostel), while Stonebwoy, the reigning TGMA Artiste of the Year, has a concert planned at Liman Hall.
Shatta’s show cancelled
Interestingly, on the evening of Friday, June 7, Shatta Waale was trending on Twitter due to speculations that his well-publicized concert at the TF dormitory had been canceled since it had not been permitted by the University's Dean of Students office.
As expected, the announcement sparked uproar among Wale supporters, who appeared to be prepared for their idol's absence from the stage.
False hope
Shatta Wale kept stoking the fervor of his adoring fans with messages on his different social media sites announcing that he was set to perform. Interestingly, there had been word on the streets of social media that the show had been canceled, which was verified by a communique from the office of the Dean of Students at the University of Ghana, yet Shatta appeared to be prepared for a performance.
At 6:26pm on Saturday evening, Shatta Wale wrote on Facebook, “In the next 3hrs I will be on stage @ #TF legon campus ..Dont miss this
