Residents living along the Nsukwao drainage in Koforidua have expressed their total disappointment at the shoddy work done by the contractor who constructed the Nsuakwao drainage project.

The aggrieved and agitated residents speaking to the Media accused the contractor and the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly of failing to work to expectation and poor supervision for the cause of their suffering.

They made this revelation after Monday evening and Tuesday afternoon Torrential rains which rendered many households along the drainage in Koforidua the Eastern Regional capital homeless and stranded.

President Akufo-Addo during the 2020 campaign cut sod for the construction of the Nsukwao drainage at a cost of GHC52 Million to help deal with perennial flooding in the area.

The project, which is yet to be commissioned, seems to have failed its first test as the downpour has exposed poor work done by the contractor.

On the other hand, the Assemblymember for the area, Yaw Addasi has also expressed dissatisfaction at the shoddy work of the contractor and has assured residents that the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly would soon access the work and act accordingly.

He also indicated that the Assembly will soon contact victims of the flood to find a better way of supporting them.

Some of the items and places affected by the torrential rains include; the collapse of a building, loss of a huge amount of money while most animals (goats, sheep, fowls, and others) have also been washed away.
