The National Road Safety Authority in Ahafo Region has attributed 90% of the motor crash in the Region and Ghana at large to human errors on the road.

The Ahafo Regional Manageress of the Authority, Ms Indira Apronti in an interview with Soireenews Correspondent, Sulley Dramani said wrongful overtaking, failure to provide daily vehicles checks, disregard of road safety regulations, drink-driving and over speeding results in the most deadly accident in Ghana while passengers look unconcerned.

She reflected that so far, 20 people have died in the Ahafo Region from January to March this year.

Ms Indira Apronti disclosed that passengers must not be in a state of sleep in cars and pedestrians should use the right road markings to assist drivers to arrive safely.

She said the Ahafo Regional National Road Safety Authority in collaboration with Driver Vehicle Licence Authority(DVLA) and Motor Traffic & Transport Department( MTTD ) have embarked on road safety education dubbed the "Arrive Alive Campaign to some major towns in the Region to reduce these preventable accidents."

She entreated all drivers to always check their blind spots before driving off, avoid drink-driving, speeding and wrongful overtaking.

On the part of pedestrians, she urged that they should always check their surroundings when on the road, and look out for safe crossing facilities like pedestrian crossing points or footbridges when crossing the road.
