Yaakrom residents commends Minister, former MP for efforts in getting the mast

The People of Yaakrom in the Dormaa West District in the Bono Region of Ghana have expressed their gratitude to the Minister of Communication, Honourable Ursula Owusu Ekufu and the former Member of Parliament for the Area, Ali Halidu Maiga for giving them a rural telephony mast.

According to the Presiding Member for the District Assembly and Assembly Member for Yaakrom Electoral Area, Honourable Francis Oppong, the former MP saw the network problems facing the community and brought the Minister of communications to Yaakrom last year October to see it herself.

Upon arrival, the PM said the Minister promised to give them a mast and the project started within 2 weeks time after her visit.

The project according to Honourable Oppong is about 90 per cent complete and they wish to register their appreciation for keeping to her promise.

This comes after concerns by the people of the area on the challenges they face with their network and how is affecting the daily activities.

Honourable Francis earlier on said that MTN Ghana has erected a telecommunication mast in the community but the people have for the past four years suffered under continued poor network coverage.

He said the mast “lacks data to access the internet”, creating a big problem for the populace, especially government workers and students.

The Assembly Member appealed to the management of MTN Ghana to upgrade the Yaakrom mast with 4G data and connect the power system to the national grid with a standby generator to enable the people to enjoy the full benefit of the mast.

Speaking to the former Member of Parliament for the Area, Honourable Ali Maiga Halidu assures his people his readiness to ensure all projects commenced under his watch will be completed even though he is not the current MP saying his government is still in power hence there a possibility for the aim to be accomplished.
