The African Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP) has stated categorically that one Hundred and two million households (1.2M) in Ghana are present without a power supply.
The Policy lead for climate change and Energy Transition at ACEP, Mr... Charles Gyamfi Ofori attributed that the national average access rate is currently at about 85% which is far way below the target set in the year 1989 to ensure that all parts of the country are provided with reliable electricity supply by 2020.
According to him, there is a need for government to partner the private operators in the energy to consider investing in solar to upgrade the current energy situation in the country since we have an abundance of sunshine at our disposal.
Charles Gyamfi made this assertion when the African Centre for Energy Policy launched its electricity monitoring App on Friday 6 May 2022. Was held at the ACEP office at North Legon in Accra.
The App is to serve as a tool for citizens to monitor and access information on the status of the power sector, make complaints and provide general feedback on the power situation within their communities.
