Kwabena Kwabena has urged critics to understand when their words have become abuses instead of constructive criticism.

The highlife artiste maintained that most people in Ghana do not know the difference between tearing a person down with abuse and actually trying to help the person do better than they've already done.

He made mention of the way young acts are openly criticised.

In reality, the purpose of the hearsay words is to make the person better and it would be more effective to criticise the young acts in private so as not to get the public to disrespect them.

“Some of the statements on radio sometimes and how people forward their submissions are sometimes abusive but it should not be so. You can criticize but don’t abuse. We should minimize criticism. If it was even up to me, I’d ask that we don’t criticize them in public”.

This he said while speaking with Dr Cann on the Ayekoo After-Drive show which airs on Happy98.9FM.

Kwabena Kwabena reiterated that it is good to critique young acts because it serves as focus points for them to better their craft, however, he specified that critiques about issues that could demoralize them should not be done publicly.

The Engya me ho’ hit-maker mentioned people need to be treated with respect at all times, especially artists.

“Even if it must be done publicly, it should at least be a bit constructive”, He maintained.

Highlighting the likes of Gyakie, Camidoh, Mr. Drew, Yaw Berk, Cina Soul, among others he concluded that this is the time that younger artists need to be guided and crafted properly so that in the next ten years ghana can have something to treasure and be proud of in our music industry.
