WIFE OF DORMAAHENE COMMISSIONS LIBRARY IN HONOR OF LATE QUEEN

A fully furnished library facility has been constructed and commissioned in Dormaa Akwamu in the Dormaa East District of the Bono Region by the wife of the Paramount Chief of Dormaa Traditional Area, Osagyefo Oseadeyo Dr. Agyemang Badu II, Mrs. Anna Agyemang Badu.

A fully furnished library facility has been constructed and commissioned in Dormaa Akwamu in the Dormaa East District of the Bono Region by the wife of the Paramount Chief of Dormaa Traditional Area, Osagyefo Oseadeyo Dr. Agyemang Badu II, Mrs. Anna Agyemang Badu.

The facility which was commissioned on 29th December,2021 was in honor of the late queen of the Dormaa Traditional Area, named “Nana Akosua Ansuaa II Library”.

At the commissioning ceremony, the first lady of the Dormaa Traditional Area and Founder and CEO of the  Lady Anna Foundation, Mrs. Anna Agyemang Badu indicated that the facility was put up by her foundation to help improve education and to also promote and preserve culture in the area.

“My motive for the project is to improve girl child education and promote the Dormaa Tradition” she said.

“ I will make sure each community under the traditional council gets a modern library to improve teaching and learning”, she added

She also launched a book entitled "THE PEARL AMONG DIAMONDS".

The book contains the Biography of the Late queen of Dormaa Traditional Area and mother of the current chief, Osagyefo Oseadeyo Dr. Agyemang Badu II, Nana Akosua Ansuaa II, Dormaahemaa who reigned from 1977-1999 and the history of the Dormaa people. 

 

Lady Anna Foundation is a Non-governmental, Non profitable Organisation founded by Mrs. Anna Agyemang Badu, Wife of Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr. Agyemang Badu II (Dormaahene).

Many dignitaries were present to grace the ceremony. Amongst them were the Paramount Chief of Dormaa Traditional Area and President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, Oseadeeyo Dr. Agyemang Badu II, Health Minister and Member of Parliament for Dormaa Central Constituency, Hon. Kwaku Agyemang Manu, past and present government officials and MDCEs.

Also, the Dormaa Municipal Chief Imam, members of the clergy, other sub-chiefs, opinion leaders, and the entire Dormaa Akwamu community were present at the occasion.

 

In his speech, Osagyefo Agyemang Badu II, President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs and King of the Dormaa Traditional Council, praised his beautiful wife, Lady Anna, for her brilliant initiative in building such a modern edifice and stocking it with a book that has been meticulously authored on Nana Akosua Ansuaa’s early life through to his prime time.

He urged the community folks and the youth to take advantage of the edifice and abreast themselves with cultural information and to improve themselves educational wise.

The Dormaahene used the opportunity to charge the youth to be respectful as our culture demands and desist from insulting adults especially on social media.
