Measures were put in place to prevent road crashes during this Easter festive season.

This was revealed by Mr.Kojotor Kojo Bilson, western north regional head of the national road safety authority when speaking on measures put in place to prevent road crashes during this Easter festive season.

He said provisional records indicate that all 70 cases of road accidents were recorded in the first three months of the year 2022 as against the same figure of 70 last year.

According to him, the vehicles involved were 114, in 2022 as against 115 in 2021.

Again from last year to this year, 99 persons were injured while others were knockdown claimed 18 persons in 2022 as against 8 last year.

Mr. Victor sorrowfully added that their use of several death in the first quarter was due to road accidents that involved Metro Mass Transit and Sprinter Bus on Bibian Ahwia  Road on 13 January, this year with 13 people reported dead.


Mr.Kojo Bilson added motorcycles, tricycles, and bicycles contributed to the road accident crisis, with 42 motorcycle cases as against 28, an almost 50 percent increase with 1 bicycle case recorded. While the sensitization against minor's to stop riding reduced to 15 as against 28 last year.

With regards to Easter Stay Alive campaign, Mr. Kojo Bilson Stated that the national road safety authority has launched a toll-free code of 194 to all networks to assist passengers to report any suspicious mistakes that could lead to accidents the authorities for immediate action to be taken.
