SCORES of commercial and cargo drivers are boiling with anger over the poor state of their road from the parking yard at the Ekye-Amanfrom in the Kwahu Afram Plain South District in the Eastern Region.

Speaking in an interview with Soireenews.
com, the Vice Chairman of National Cargo Transport Association in Afram Plains, Mr. Kwasi Danso, highlighted the danger of the road during emergencies and if care is not taken, someone will die through falling into the Afram River.
He explained that, it is for their own good to take critical measures on the situation for the road to be fixed as a matter of urgency.
According to him, several complaints had been made previously to the management but had not resulted in any substantive action.
"It seems the authorities have turned a death ears to their request to solve the problems and used the opportunity to warned that, if they do not see any concrete steps towards improving the road in the yard within a month’s time, they would hit the streets for a serious demonstration with Strike.V
On their part, the Distraught Motorist and Cargo Drivers who shared their frustration said the _Volta Lake Transport Company Limited_ have taken them for granted and cried out their plea to the authorities to come to their aid because the roads is really in a deplorable state.
According to them, the bad road parking yard space is negatively affecting their operations and they wanted the authorities to do something about the situation.
"We have been paying tolls to the Volta Lake Transport Company Limited but the road has become ‘death trap. During the loading time of the ferry, the cargo drivers struggle moving through the road to park on the ferry.
"There are no breathing space either in the parking yard. We are saying that measures to be taken to fix the road and that refusal to listen and heed to our plea would compel to stage a very serious demonstration with strike action against the state authorities," the drivers noted.
However, when reached out to the Station Officer (S.O) of Volta Lake Transport Company Limited Mr. Marvin Okai-koi, he noted that, he is bothered about the concerns of the drivers, hence management are on negotiation to solve the issue.
