The Deputy Chief Executive of Ghana COCOBOD, Dr Emmanuel Opoku, has appreciated the enormous work being done on the Benchema-Adjoafua Road.

According to him, COCOBOD is much appreciative of the work being done and has applauded the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Damnkwa Akufioo Addo for the implementations to salvage and progress Ghana's cocoa.

Dr Emmanuel Opoku was on his visit with the president, Nana Akuffo-Addo on his two-day working visit to the Western North Region and speaking to the media, he disclosed that the road is one of the major stretches in the western north region and plays an essential role in the transportation of cocoa beans and other farm produce which brings major income into Ghana's economy.

He added that previously it was a major challenge when the road was blocked, leading to the increase of the cost of production, before cocoa beans got to its destination, either Takoradi or Tema.

Speaking with Soireenews reporter Nattybongo, Dr Opoku explained that, the problem would be a thing of the past when the road is completely open to traffic.

He concluded that the road served about 14 cocoa districts with over one thousand tonnes of total production on the road and therefore its importance to the contribution of cocoa to the Ghanaian economy is enormous.

The Western North Regional Highways engineer, Mr Patrick Okoto, who serve as supervising consultant for the Benchema to Adjoafua road commended the works of Amandi and stated that they are almost  50 per cent done of progression of work.

He added that covid has also delayed the progress of work but hopefully work will be completed in a month or two.
