Wake up from your slumber and get to work or resign-NDC Yao Agbenyo charges Tema West MP

The Basic Education Certificate Examinations began last Monday, August 8, 2023, in earnest. Being the first time taking an examination characterized by anxiety which just a word of encouragement could water down.

Amidst visits by Members of Parliament and aspiring parliamentary candidates to schools within their constituents to offer words of encouragement, goodwill messages, donation of essential educational materials coupled with payment of transportation fees to convey pupils to examination centres and back, the case of the Tema West MP, Carlos Ahenkorang is different.

It is in the light of above, Comrade Yao Agbenyo is calling on the Tema West lawmaker to wake up from his slumber and get to work or resign.

"Does the Member of Parliament for the Tema West Constituency care as future leaders sit for their first external examination?", he quizzes.

"Does he know the value of Education or does he know the pressure that kids face just at the mere thought of sitting for an exam and what his presence alone could do for the kids in ameliorating their fears?", he demands to know.

Comrade Yao Agbenyo could not understand what has held the MP in oblivion while other Members of Parliament and Parliamentary Candidates across the country are embarking on encouragement tours donating Educational Materials and offering guidance to allay fears as they face one of the toughest moments in their lives quizzing, "does our MP see it or does he follow the news? Has he got social media monitoring teams? More importantly, has he seen the thoughtfulness of the National Democratic Congress' parliamentary candidate, Lawyer James Enu as he tours the whole constituency with his team donating Educational Materials and offering words of motivation and inspiration to the kids, and even giving money to schools to convey these kids to their exam centres to cut down the stress of walking long distances as they sit for the exam?".

Mr. Agbenyo is wondering if the MP must always be in the news for the wrong reasons or must he always wait to be jerked up before he goes about his constitutional mandate duties or must lawyer James Enu always set the tone for him to follow?", he decried.

He continued that must the MP always wait to steal ideas from lawyer James Enu?".

Mr. Agbenyo maintained that if the MP has refused to be functional, then he has no reason to be there, therefore calling for his resignation.

He added, "This is Tema, the land of the elites, Nkrumah's Tema! We cannot, and will not tolerate any dysfunctional leadership any longer. Get to work or resign for the more competent person to take over the seat".

He asked, "Would a father be at home and allow the family goat to give birth while tied to a tree? Didn't the elders say that in the presence of an elder, a child's head is not allowed to droop? If we have an elder who neglects the mandates of his grey hair, let him raise his hands in despair for the younger one with empathy to lead the family! A word to the wise", he sternly cautioned.
