Volta Region reopens Museum

The Volta Regional Minister Honourable Dr Archibald Letsa said tourism and culture is the best identity for everyone hence must be appreciated and showcase.

Volta Region has taken a step in showcasing its people, culture and traditions as renovation works on the regional museum is completed and finally open to the public. 

The renovation of the facility was championed by the Volta Regional Coordinating Council, financed by the Government of Germany and the Ghana National Gas Company under the auspices of the Ghana Museums and Monument Board. 

The facelift is furnished with some artworks designed by Voltarians, paintings of notable persons from the region including the late, former President Flt. Jerry John Rawlings, the first Miss Ghana, Monica Amekoafia, Ghana’s first female Lawyer, Annie Ruth Baeta and some belongings of the last German Governor of the region in the late 19s. 

Germany’s Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Kristoph Retzlaff speaking during the re-commissioning of the facility in Ho on Friday says the people of Volta Region and Ghana as a whole appears in the history of Germany hence the decision to finance the renovation. 

According to him, the people of the Volta region are blessed with much cultural heritage and must continue to value and maintain them for the next generations.  

The Volta Regional Minister, Honourable Dr Archibald Letsa said tourism and culture is the best identity for everyone hence must be appreciated and showcase.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, he called on all Voltarians to patronize the facility and encourage students and teachers to use it for tour and excursion.

He mentioned that Voltarians in the diaspora must sell the cultural heritage and other natural resources we have in the Volta region to the other world.

The Honourable Minister finally charged all workers at the museum to keep the facility clean and neat to attract people.
He also encouraged them to develop a culture of maintenance.
