Variant Modes Of Demonstration In Ghana:The NDC Style
The demonstration is one of the political tools used in expressing views and opinions on any issue in the public domain.
It is a constitutionally guaranteed right that goes with responsibility. It cannot be done.
Considering the constitutional position on the exercise of our democratic right, one will be highly flabbergasted and disappointed at the way the NDC organizes demonstrations in the country.
Their style of demonstration makes it easy to understand what the Minister for Information said about the recent NDC  demonstrations.
"Their demonstration followed a certain trajectory; to demonstrate with arms and also to demonstrate in the night to create instability."
All these styles are not the proper way of demonstrating to promote democratic governance and a peaceful political environment.
Their style is akin to introducing the stone age politics in our democratic dispensation. It is shameful and an eyesore to see a responsible opposition party indulging in that kind of politics with a clear motivation to cause instability and make the country ungovernable which will not augur well with our democratic political practices.
It is unheard of, sad and far from civilised political culture to pelt the police with stones during the demonstration. To the extent that a demonstrator was arrested with offensive weapons means that the objective of the demonstration was to unleash mayhem on the people to create a chaotic situation in the country. All well-meaning Ghanaians should condemn the acts of lawlessness carried out during the demonstration.
The NDC, as a responsible opposition, must single out this demonstration for condemnation to maintain its credibility. They should not justify these acts of lawlessness.
They must do this to demonstrate to Ghanaians that they are not a violent party. When they claim Ghanaians are suffering, should they visit instability in the country and justify these acts of lawlessness?
They must show that they are a responsible party whose sole objective is to promote peace, law and order for the ultimate development and prosperity of the country.
Ghana has come of age to witness this lawlessness which was reported in the international media circles portraying a negative image of the country.
Has the NDC been vaccinated against the national disgrace and shamefulness that will attend this international media report?
God help our Motherland, Ghana.
