PSG have booked a place in the finals of the Champions League after a 3-0 victory over RB Leipzig.

They are not just the first French club to reach the final since 2004, they are also the first team from outside Spain, England, Italy and Germany to grace the decider since Porto defeated Monaco that year.

Julian Nagelsmann made one change to his Leipzig side that beat Atletico Madrid - Mukiele came in for Halstenberg as Nkunku kept his place to face his former side.

Mbappe was in the starting XI for the first time since his ankle injury in the French Cup final on 24 July with Herrera also included in the lineup.

PSG soaked the pressure from their build-up as Leipzig’s backline reacted out of sorts to the pressure being applied. It was difficult for them to find themselves flat-footed when Paris were advancing in the final third.

Marquinhos in the 13-minute opened the scores through a header following Neymar’s foul at the back of the yard closer to the left. Di María whipped in the free-kick and Marquinhos got in front of the Leipzig defence to glance in from six meters.

The Germans tried to calm the game but the Ligue 1 champions were too strong and composed. Neymar was lively but Mbappe was shut for a while from causing havoc to the defense. He did not have as much joy with Neymar, though, he proved a real menace and had most of Leipzig’s midfield flirting with a booking.

The prolific Brazilian hit the woodwork in the 35-minute after another freekick which was two or three meters from the touchline. 25 meters out, as he run-up to the free-kick and tried to catch Gulácsi out but he saw his effort clatter off the near upright.

The ambitiousness of Thomas Tuchel’s side was strong, as they played as a team willing to qualify into the final of the Champions League for the first time in decades.

Di Maria scored the second three minutes to end the first half from a defensive blunder. Gulácsi's kick-out was wayward and intercepted by Paredas. He whipped it quickly inside to Neymar, whose impudent flick gave Di María all the time he needs to pick his spot.

Bernat's second Champions League goal this season and fifth in 17 Champions League games for Paris put this game to bed in the second half.

Gulácsi initially thwarted the Spaniard but Paris won the ball back when Mukiele slipped. Di María curled it back into the center with Bernat, played onside with Mukiele still on the floor, glancing in.

Thomas Tuchel's side would wait to know their opponent in tomorrow’s other semifinal game between Bayern Munich and Olympique Lyon.
