Three persons standing criminal trials for multiple offences

Three persons are standing criminal trails of six charges at the Ashaiman circuit court. The accused persons;Lukeman Alhassan(A1),Amos Adibo aka Protocol(A2),and Christiana Mohammed(A3) pleaded not guilty to all six charges.

Three persons are standing criminal trails of six charges at the Ashaiman circuit court. The accused persons;Lukeman Alhassan(A1),Amos Adibo aka Protocol(A2),and Christiana Mohammed(A3) pleaded not guilty to all six charges.

Counsels for A1 and A3, Bright Amu led by Anthony Adu Nketia and counsel for A2, Bright Amu for Prince Hodo both prayed the court for bail but their plea was declined.

The court presided over by His Honour Simon Gaga said having listened carefully to counsels, A1 has been on bail in a similar case which has not been substituted. It will therefore not be proper on my part not to grant A1 bail.

A1 is granted bail in the sum of GHS100,000 with four sureties two of which must be justified. A2 is also granted bail in the sum of GHS 100,000 with four sureties while A2 is granted bail to the sum of GHS 5,000.00.

While Lukeman Alhassan and Amos Adibo aka protocol were charged with multiple charges of conspiracy to commit crime namely robbery contrary to sections 23(1) and 149 of the criminal offences Act 1960(Act 29) and robbery contrary to section 149 of the criminal offences Act 1960(Act 29).

Christiana Mohammed has been charged with dishonestly receiving property obtained or appropriated by offence contrary to section 146 of the criminal offences Act 1960 (Act 29).

Presenting Detective Chief Inspector Frank Baffour Kyei Investigative case, Chief Inspector Nunoo Mensah told the court that on 30/10/2022 at about 8:10 am, Adam Gado a warehouse manager of Gold Tone Ghana Limited who is attached to Overseas Company to supervise his company's rented warehouse (Rotterdam) reported to police that about 12:30 am, whilst he and other private security personnel from UT Securities namely; Ebenezer Tetteh, Seidu Musah and Philip Mensah were providing security at Rotterdam warehouse within the premises of Overseas Company Limited around the Tema DVLA Office, they were attacked by 5 armed men.

The 5 armed men who were wielding machetes, guns, and other implements tied them with ropes, subjected them to beatings and inflected wounds on the complainants, and forcibly stole cash to the sum of GHS 450.00 and Techno Spark 8 mobile phone from Ebenezer Tetteh, also an amount of GHS 2,000.00, an Itel and Techno Spark 8 mobile phone from Seidu Musah and HP laptop valued at GHS 4,500.00, Samsung Tablet valued at GHS3,000.00 and Nokia mobile phone valued at GHS 200.00 from Adam Gado Tawiah.

The armed men then broke into the Rotterdam warehouse, drove in 3 trucks, and stole 1557 bags of Bua Sugar valued at GHS 918,630.

Police intelligence led to the arrest of the first accused; Lukeman Alhassan who had transported a quantity of the stolen sugar and deposited in a house at Auntie Araba, a suburb of Kubekro number one.

On 20/03/2023, A2 was also arrested based on the intelligence that he was part of the robbery gang. Upon their arrest, A1 admitted to the offence and mentioned having sold 340 bags of the stolen sugar to the third accused; Christiana Mohammed.

The police retrieved 77 bags of the complainant's sugar from a house where A1 deposited some of the stolen sugar but the rest have still not been retrieved.

A2 also admitted to the offence and mentioned two of his other accomplices as Basit and Akwasi and A2 led police to the Rotterdam warehouse where he and his accomplices committed the crime.

After investigations, the accused persons were charged as indicated on the charge sheet whilst efforts are underway to get those at large.
