''They Mistook Him For An Armed Robber''- Bima Residents On Run After Beating A Man To Death

Citizens of Bima, a community within the Asante Akyem North District of the  Ashanti Region in Ghana have taken to their hells after a 48-year-old man was killed last night after they mistook him for a thief.

The deceased who has been identified as Samuel Anokye was beaten by some residents in the hours of half-past nine, last night.

Reports from soiree news stated that the man was confirmed dead at the Agogo Presbyterian Hospital after he was referred to the at 11 pm last night.

Dr. Amadu Frank was present at that time confirmed that Samuel died as a result of lack of oxygen.

‘’He suffered from Cerebral Hypoxia and anoxia, and that lead to his death. Cerebral Hypoxia is a medical condition that stops the flow of oxygen into your head.

When the brain does not get enough oxygen needed to perform its duties, it makes you weak and eventually leads to anoxia. Anoxia is when no oxygen enters the brain. When this happens, the brain cannot respond to anything, and if it cannot respond to anything, the cells get damaged and that leads to death’’, Dr. Amadu of Agogo Presbyterian Hospital emergency ward explained after the victim Samuel Anokye was confirmed dead.

The Police of Bima and Agogo, acting on the report from the Agogo Presbyterian Hospital, has launched investigations into the case of Samuel Anokye after he was confirmed to have been starved of oxygen which lead to his death. Samuel, from the report, was starved of oxygen when some men used robber polythene to cover his face after he was mistaken for an armed robber.

Antwiaa Benedicta, an eyewitness to the incident, confirmed to the police that, Samuel was mistaken for an armed robber before the residents pounced on him. They mistook him for an armed robber and started beating him.

He kept saying he wasn't an armed robber, but they kept blaming him for such and placed a black polythene bag on his head. They tied the polythene around his head and watched him struggle for air on the ground, Antwiaa Benedicta said to the police last night.

Samuel, 48, was found with no weapon or stolen goods, but was blamed for robbery as five men, all residents of Bima, surrounded him and deprived him of oxygen which eventually lead to his collapse. He was rushed to the Juansa Hospital but was later referred to the Agogo Hospital where he was confirmed dead.

All the five men who took part in the murder, are nowhere to be found after Antwiaa Benedicta, the eyewitness, gave their identities to the Bima police. The police are on high alert looking for all five men; Kwame Addo, Nhyira Boateng, Awuni Kofi, Marven Frank, and Dumo Isaac.
