The Upper East Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu has disclosed that he harboured a vision of driving development in the Region long before his elevation to the position of Regional  Minister.

In his assertion, the people of the Region need to demonstrate the unity of purpose, which is an important ingredient in pushing forward the development agenda of the region.
“With the little that I know, a politician cannot work alone, one party cannot also work alone, one tribe cannot do something alone. That is why I plan to bring all of us together, let’s put our various partisan politics somewhere and come together to develop the Region,” he said in an interaction with Civil Society Organizations in the Region who paid a courtesy call on him.

Mr Yakubu noted that the Region is diversified into tribes, a situation that poses significant differences in needs and expectations of development. He, however, called for a realization of unity in a forward march for the holistic advancement of the region.

He stressed that there must be a paradigm shift in the manner the Region is seeking to grow.

“I have a vision that the Upper East should develop and we must develop it. We can do it and it has to be done. That vision has been with me even before I got appointed and as a former MP, driving through Bolgatanga always got me thinking; why is this Region stagnant in development and why can’t we do things differently to develop the Region,” he wondered.

“I am also aware of the challenges in the Region and fortunately I am also aware of the resources that we have. Now that is what beats my mind, why do we have all these natural and human resources and we are not able to make it and develop our region?”
