The Acting District Chief Executive said the distribution was geared towards increasing cashew production in the area and also to ensure the supply of raw materials to support the government’s decentralised industrialisation derive through the One District, One Factory initiative.

The Dormaa East Acting District Chief Executive, Hon. Emmanuel Kofi Agyemang has distributed 300,000 cashew seedlings to farmers in the district to improve their production.

According to him, the Assembly has nursed about 350,000 cashew seedlings for farmers in the district this year.

This initiative, according to the acting DCE is in line with President Akufo-Addo's initiative of planting for food and jobs and Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD) initiative, aimed at decentralising the National Tree Crop Programme (NTCP) to promote rural economic growth and enhance the foreign exchange earning capacity of the country.

He explained the Assembly under the PERD initiative, has been providing improved cashew seedlings to farmers in the district to enhance cashew production.

Hon. Kofi Agyemang said the government attaches seriousness to the agricultural sector, hence his interventions to ensure it gets the needed boost.

The Dormaa East Agric Extension Officer, Adjei Kwaku Kennedy assured the farmers of their support and called on the farmers not to hesitate to seek their guidance.

Hon. Prince Kwasi Yeboah, Assemblymember for Asuotiano advised the youth in the area to take advantage of the various agricultural interventions and incentives to increase production and improve their livelihoods.
