Swed Mining Company Ghana Limited (SMCGL) has dispelled allegations leveled against the company of operating gold mining activities on the concession of the Prestea Sankofa Gold Limited (PSGL).

According to the company, the Bondea Lease Mining Project at Prestea- Obouho under the Wassa Fiase Traditional Area in Prestea-Huni Valley Municipality of the Western Region does not fall within the mining catchment areas of Prestea Sankofa Gold Limited therefore all allegations going round should be treated like garbage.

A meeting held with the concession owners of Swed Mining Company Ghana Limited on Saturday, April 3, 2021, at Prestea-Obouho, the Swed Mining Company said the company has legally acquired the mining concession through the mining lease agreement between the government of Ghana through the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources in respect of the Bondae Lease Area in 2017.

According to Swed Mining Company, after it legally got the mining operating permit and license from the state mining regulatory institutions, they looked for a business operative partnership.

The Swed Mining Company added it is law-abiding that will not conflict with the laws governing the mining operations in Ghana that stipulates no legally constituted mining companies can enter into the legally acquired concessions of another mining company to prospect gold or bauxite.

"We are a law-abiding mining company so we are operating gold mining in accordance with the Mining and Minerals Act," Swed Mining Company explained.
