SA's Ramaphosa to face subpoena in farm burglary probe

The president of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, will be served with a subpoena to appear in court to answer questions regarding a heist that is believed to have occurred at his game property in 2020 and resulted in the theft of $4 million (£3.3 million).

Mr. Ramaphosa missed the deadline of July 18 to respond to the nation's corruption watchdog.

The watchdog launched an investigation into possible violations of the executive ethics code in June after Mr. Ramaphosa was accused of paying thieves to be silent.

Why he would have had that much money stashed in a personal residence is being questioned.
