The contractor working on the Sampa-Jinini road has abandoned the project and moved all equipment from the site a few months after the elections, the Chief of Jamera traditional council, Nana Shie-Dwo Pataz in II has disclosed.

According to him, prior to the elections, the contractor was seen constructing drains on the road, but a few months after the elections the contractor has abandoned the work.

The only visible thing on the road is the construction drainage systems on the road that indicates the road is under construction. He said the road was awarded on contract in 2020 during the tenure of office of the immediate past Member of Parliament for the Jaman North constituency Siaka Stevens.

He said the bad and dusty nature of the roads which connect to other districts and towns, has led to the loss of lives and affected the livelihoods of people as businesses fold up.

He echoed the frustration residents, transporters, and business operators have had to bear due to the volume of dust from the roads, with the accompanying health implications.

He appealed to the former MP Siaka Stevens to make sure the contractor complete the abandoned work.
