The Savannah Regional Minister Honourable Saeed Muhazu Jebril Jegede has joined the Lobi Youth Association in celebration of its maiden Farming Festival at Kporiju in the Bole Traditional of the Savannah region.

The farming festival which is known in the local palace as ‘Djokuulbinan' has been introduced by the ethnic settler group called Lobi in the Savannah region for it to be observed annually.

The Minister assured the chiefs and people of the Association that the needed development to transform the area would be provided by the government.

He called for cordiality amongst the Lobis and the owners of the traditional area.

"As settlers, I will also charge you to give due respect and recognition, to the custodians of the land, this is important because it will reduce conflicts. I will use this same opportunity to charge custodians of the land to also recognize and respect the so-called acephalous groups.

"When this happens, we can coexist as a people, "Hon Muazu Jegede added.

The festival was celebrated under the theme “Unity and peace, the bedrock for development; the role of the Lobi Youth”.

The Lobi ethnic group maiden homecoming summit organized by the Lobi Youth Association of the ‘Djokuulbina’ farming festival is not new to the Lobis in Ivory-Coast but has been abandoned by their counterparts in Ghana.

The Lobis have had a lovely stay on the soil of  Gonjas and coexist peacefully hence that result to the Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom who appointed two (2) of their Leaders to the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs.

The major problem of the Lobi Youth Association is the impasse between farmers and nomadic herdsmen in the area.

The Minister pledged to support the area with amenities to accelerate its rapid growth and development.

The Celebration took place on Sunday, May 16, 2021, which brought together Chiefs and people of Lobi and Gonja ethnic groups.
