The Egyptian was on the scoresheet against FC Midtjylland on Wednesday night.

Mohamed Salah scored Liverpool’s fastest goal in Champions League football and also became the Reds player to have scored many goals in the competition.

The Egyptian notched his 22nd goal for the Reds in the Champions League against FC Midtjylland on Wednesday night, to overtake Steven Gerrard's previous record of 21.

That goal which is the fastest was scored under a minute (55 seconds) against the Danes as Liverpool played a 1-1 draw with to top the Group D table.

"It's a great feeling, of course, to be the top scorer for the club [in the Champions League], something I'm proud of,” Salah told BT Sports after the game.

"I need to keep going like that and scoring more goals and make the gap maybe bigger between me and the others! 

"But I'm trying all the time to score goals just to help the team to win games – that's the most important thing."

Liverpool will wait until Monday to determine their next opponent in the knockout round of the competition. As group winners, they will be paired with a runner up from other groups – Atletico, Madrid, Borussia Monchengladbach, FC Porto, Sevilla, SS Lazio, FC Barcelona and RB Leipzig.
