Residents of the Pelungu in the Nabdam District, have called on authorities in the district to commission the completed police post in the area to beef up security.

Their call comes in relation to the killing of the Deputy District Director of the National Disaster Management Organization in the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region of Ghana, Dominic Maaya over the weekend by masked armed men at the Pelungu market.

The District Chief Executive for the Nabdam District, Agnes Namoo described the sad incident as unfortunate and vowed to put pragmatic measures in place to avert future occurrence.

A police post that was built in 2019 by the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Nabdam Constituency, Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaane has not been commissioned.

Dr. Nawaane says the reason the building has not been put to use is purely political and something needs to be done urgently.

The Nabdam MP believes that commissioning the Police Station which he built will help reduce the attacks and robberies recorded in the area, especially Pelungu.
