Children of Mepeasem in the  Nanumba North Municipality of the Northern Region spend their time on farms while others play around due to the lack of schools in the community.

Most children run away whenever they see a stranger or a vehicle in the community.

Soireenews visits to the community indicate that the future leaders in the area are left behind.

Some residents who interacted with Soireenews Northern Regional correspondent, Stephen Amoah revealed that the community lacks educational infrastructure which has really affected its progress.

According to them, due to the high illiteracy rate,  they have no clue of what is going on in the country, as they have defined education as the only breakthrough from their situation which can help them stay abreast and achieve their goals in life.

The Assemblymember for the Area, HonourableTijeribe Jakamba said, several efforts from the Assembly to get the community a school have to proved futile.

The residents of Mepeasem are appealing to the government and stakeholders to support them with a basic school or their wards will 'die in illiteracy.'
