36 stores and 6 containers are confirmed burnt following a fire outbreak at Mankessim in the Mfantseman Municipality of Central Region at 10:30 PM on Tuesday night.

According to the women, the properties burnt cannot be quantified. 

One man who spoke to Soireenews indicated that the arrival of the Mankessim fire tender was short of water and people had to help the situation until four arrive at the scene to conquer the fire.

The Municipal Chief Executive of Mfantseman Municipality, Honourable Kenneth Kelly Essuman said the fire started due to an electrical fault. However, rumours indicate that the fire outbreak was caused by the negligence of a trader.

Investigations are still ongoing by the fire service to know the exact outcome of the misfortune.

The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) Coordinator of the Central Region, Mr Joseph Donkoh said, the government will do come to the aid of the affected victims.
