Some Youth in Amemerewa, a community in the Obuasi Municipal Assembly of the Ashanti region are demanding authorities to account to them on the amount they have earned from three boreholes within the community.

Their demand comes after the introduction by the local authorities to pay before they fetch water in the community.

Meanwhile, some of the youth has been accused by the authorities of destroying padlocks used on the boreholes.

In an interview with some of the residents by Soiree news, they stressed that transparent accountability on amounts saved is what they demand since the introduction of "pay before you fetch."

They cautioned that failure for the leaders to do so will lead to resistance to the "pay before you fetch" policy.

Some said although a complaint has been launched at the Obuasi police station for the arrest of persons who destroyed the padlocks, they will still resist the payment unless the account is rendered.
