Professionals meet pupils in a legal outreach programme

A group calling itself legal outreach professionals comprising of doctors, teachers, lawyers, judges, nurses, and education directors amongst others within the Ashaiman and Tema Metropolis.

The meeting which came off last Friday, 21 July, 2023 was meant to re-orient the minds of the pupils about the new phase of Ashaiman.

Speaking in an interview with the Convenor, Lawyer Emmanuel Kumadey explained that as professionals of conscience, they are not only interested in collecting money from clients but equally concerned about safeguarding the sanctity of society.

He said it will be a great fulfillment to see the teething youth live right in the face of challenges to achieve their dreams.

He shockingly disclosed that research has shown that crime is prevalent among school dropouts normally at the Junior High School level which stage he termed pivotal stage hence the urgent demand for an initiative of their kind.

The Director of Education, Ashaiman, Mr. Clifford Henaku Budu underscored the importance of the initiative referring to it as "a game-changer" in changing the perception of the youth about Ashaiman to enable them to collaborate in making it better.

He believes that Ashaiman has everything hence the need to preserve setting an ambitious target of raising almost every profession needed in the next twenty years.

The Headmistress of Saint Augustine R/C JHS, Mrs Juliana Apaligah believes that the initiative is capable of creating a unique opportunity for the pupils to be mentored and role modeled.

While expressing her appreciation for the group of professionals, she is confident the exercise will serve as a form of motivation for the pupils.

A High Court Judge, Ms. Patricia Quansah admonished the pupils that rather than being slothful, insolent, and engaging in absenteeism, they should practice hard work, politeness, and punctuality in all their dealings.

Those attributes, she added if practiced will help them achieve their goals in life. He urged the gathering of pupils to forget their mobile phones and marry their books.
