Pray Hard To God To Touch The Heart For Nana Akufo-Addo To Assent To LGBTQI+Bill To Make It A Law—Upper Manya Krobo Urges Ghanaian Worshipers
THE MEMBER of Parliament (MP) for Upper Manya Krobo constituency  in the Eastern Region, Honorable Bismark Tetteh Nyarko, has called on Ghanaians particularly Christians to continue to pray to God to touch the heart of  President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in order to accept and assent to the  Promotion of Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values (LGBTQI+) Bill 2021, to make it a law.

The young outspoken briefed the Christians  about the importance of the law, saying that the Bill, popularly known as Anti Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning and more (Anti-LGBTQ+ Bill) has been overwhelmingly endorsed by majority of Ghanaians and there was no need for further delay of President Akufo-Addo.
The MP noted that although his constituency has recorded zero of practice of the gay and homosexual, he was particularly against the same- sex marriages hence decision to take education against gay and lesbian marriages to the various churches in his constituency to help intensify education in the fight against this practice.

“The whole Parliament of Ghana has unanimously passed this Bill, so more than 95 per cent of Ghanaians are saying that we don’t want to promote this kind of life (LGBTQ+), what more clarity do we need?” the MP questioned.
"For us in parliament we are done our part on the bill and that it was left with President Akufo-Addo assent to the anti LGBTQ+Bill to make it to become a constitutional law in this country. But President Akufo-Addo refused to assent to the bill. So as the Christians, we need to continue to pray for God to intervene so that President Akufo-Addo can assent the LGBTQ+," the legislator told the workshippers.

On February 28, 2024, Ghana’s Parliament approved the legislation criminalizing LGBTQ+ activities, encompassing promotion, advocacy, and funding.
The law prescribes imprisonment ranging from 6 months to 3 years for individuals found guilty, while those promoting and sponsoring the act could face a prison term of 3 to 5 years.

Honorable Nyarko made these remarks when he joined a number of religious bodies to mark the Ascension of Christ in his constituency.
Some of the churches the MP visited include the Asesewa St. Augustine Roman Catholic church, Nazareth Presbyterian church, the Apostolic Church of Ghana that held a convention at both Asesewa and Sekesua, and the Pentecost Church.
In all the churches the MP visited with his entourage of Constituency Executive Members, he entreated the worshipers to continue to forgive each other as Christ does.
He asked Christians to continue to pray to God Almighty to touch the heart of  President Nana Addo to sign the Anti-LGBTQI+ bill into law.
The MP used the occasion to educate the congregants on the law.
He emphasized the urgency for the President to swiftly endorse the bill and expressed his satisfaction with the actions taken by Parliament.
He said it was fear that compelled Pilate to succumb to the demands of the high priests and those who wanted Jesus Christ to be crucified and urged the President not to succumb to “those voices probably convincing him against assenting to the Bill.”
"All the 275 MP s are against the promotion and practice of this sinful practice that annihilated Sodom and Gomorrah in the Bible".
He said.
"As your elected representative, l signed against this sinful practice on your behalf." Honourable said amid a spontaneous applause from all the churches he visited.
From the places of worship, the MP moved to Battorkope where a soccer gala which he sponsored was underway.
He donated a quantity of footballs and sets of jerseys to all the 10 participating teams.
