Speaking to the Kwahu Afram Plains North Social Welfare Director, Mr. Vicent Kofi Appiah also said the items were to address specific needs of the beneficiaries and were presented according to what the beneficiaries requested sted.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Kwahu Afram Plains North in the Eastern Region, Honourable Isaac Ofori Koree, has advised Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) who receive support from the District Assemblies should make good use of the items received but not to sell them but rather use it to ensure the well-being of their family.

The DCE made the call when he presented start-up tools and equipment to about 40 People With Disability (PWDs) worth GH¢140,000.00 to support and boost themselves in business to enable them to work and reduce poverty among them to improve their living standards and socio-economic status.

The items presented included a sewing machine, fishing nets and accessories, a cassava grater, a hair dryer and accessories, deep freezes and steel mini containers for the shop among others which is aimed at equipping them to earn a better living despite their challenges.

Speaking to the Kwahu Afram Plains North Social Welfare Director, Mr. Vicent Kofi Appiah also said the items were to address specific needs of the beneficiaries and were presented according to what the beneficiaries requested sted.

He explained, the items were procured from the District’s share of the Disability Fund and said the Department of Social Welfare would conduct regular monitoring to ensure that the beneficiaries used the items for the purposes for which they were granted and advised the beneficiaries not to sell the items, but to use them to enhance their businesses and living standard.

On their Part, the Kwahu Afram Plains North PWDs beneficiaries after receiving the items commended the government for ensuring the well-being of PWDs in the society and contributing their quota to the national development and therefore assured taking proper care of the items and invest them into productive ventures to help uplift their standards of living and welfare, describing it as a step which will create an enabling and inclusive society for the disabled.
