The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) with the support of UNESCO has organized a one-day sensitization workshop for youth activists in Techiman South district.

The workshop which took place at the Pensioner's Office is aimed at empowering the youth to stand up for peace and national unity.

The Bono East regional NCCE boss, Mr. Joseph Kwaku Yeboah in an interview with the media said his outfit is trying to eradicate election violence in the country and also to educate the public on the importance of disbanding political parties vigilante groups in the country.

According to him, the youth are mostly used to form such political party vigilantes which, in turn, causes elections violence, hence the need for the NCCE to educate the youth in Techiman South and the country at large on the importance of staying away from elections violence and political party vigilantes as the constitution mandates.

Mr. Joseph Yeboah revealed that the workshop should have originally taken place in December last year or immediately after the 2020 elections but in all, he thanked UNESCO for sponsoring them to conduct the workshop.
