Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Honorable Alban Sumana Bagbin has hinted that Parliament would initiate discussions with relevant state actors to ensure measures and systems comply with all members, and staff of Parliament complies with declaration of assets regulations.

The move, he said would ensure that tax obligations were honored on time and all outstanding issues of an overpayment reported on by the Auditor-General from 2001 to 2008 and 2009 to 2016 were retired and settled without any further delay by affected members and former members of parliament.

The Speaker made the statement on the floor of parliament as part of his remarks on the return of members of parliament at the second meeting of the second section of the 8th Parliament of the fourth Republic on  May 24, 2022, indicating his resolve to her for the compliance with the asset declaration.
The Speaker announced that a team would be put in place to liaise with state and non-state actors to smoothen the compliance and implementation of those initiatives.
He assured that the leadership of the House, the Parliamentary  Service Board, and the Speaker would continue to deepen and widen the scope of the already cordial relationship between the judiciary and legislature.
"As arms of government, Ghanaians expect nothing from us then to see our work in harmony to the betterment of their lives and the development of the country", he assured.
