Palace row over 'what part of Africa are you from' remarks

Lady Susan Hussey, the lady in waiting for the late Queen Elizabeth, has apologized and quit after repeatedly asking a black charity executive from Britain where she was "truly" from.

At the Tuesday charity function at the palace, Ngozi Fulani, the founder of a charity, was questioned about her history.

By the words made by Prince William's godmother, Ms. Fulani claimed to be "completely astonished."

The comments were deemed "inappropriate and profoundly unfortunate" by the palace.

According to Ms. Fulani, the dialogue went something like this:

SH: No, from where are you?

We're based in Hackney, I said.

SH: No, from what region of Africa are you?

Me: They didn't leave any records, so I'm not sure.
