Our Tradition is the Most Beautiful - Regent of Nanung

The Regent of the Nanung Traditional Area in the Northern Region His Royal Highness, Nyelinbolgu Naa Yakubu Dasana Andani says the area still upholds its core tradition.

Reacting to this year's fire (Bugum) festival at the Nyelinbolgu Palace in Bimbila, the regent without mincing a word said the area tradition is the most beautiful one. Celebrants of fire (Bugum) festival in the Dagbon Traditional Area in the Northern Region on Wednesday night defied rains to hold this year's festival as joyous crowd in Tamale, Mion, Karaga, Savulugu, Nanton and many other communities lighted up their touches with the blessing of the custodian's of the land.

Stating his satisfaction with the high turnout at the festival, he said people from different backgrounds converged at the palace to catch glimpse of the activities.

"In the night, the Regent of Nanung His Royal Highness Nyelinbolgu Naa Yakubu Dasana Andani performed his mandatory traditional duty by lightning the flame for the commencement of this year's fire festival which marks the beginning of the year in the traditional calendar".

"Women, children, the youth, elderly, strangers and passersby came to the Palace to have a feel of our tradition".

According to him, the most amazing part of the festival was when some security personnel sought permission to take pictures with him and further requested a spiritual concoction ( Wolugu).

"Our tradition is the most beautiful, it eventually looked like our Nanung own is the best considering how even strangers have grown to love it.
Every day we get better, every month we get better, every year we get better".

"We will continue to get better until the better is best enough for us to have total cohesion and love among ourselves.
