Oda CHNTS at 60: principal calls for change of name

The principal of Oda Community Health Nurses' Training School in the Birim Central Municipality of Eastern region, Mr. Jones Abeka Baah has called on the government to permit the school to change its old name which doesn't suit its current status.

Speaking at the school's 60th-anniversary celebration held at the school campus in Akyem Oda, the principal explained that the school has added public nurses training into their previous courses started in 1962, hence the name should be changed to College of Public Health" to reach the world standard.

He further appealed to the government, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and individuals to come to their aid to help them get a new school bus.

According to him, the lack of a school bus has been making it difficult for the school to transport its students' nurses to villages for clinical.

He also called for help to build an additional hostel in the school to accommodate more students.

The principal in addition advised both student and staff nurses to have patience and show respect when attending to patients at the hospital because they receive quality training in their various schools therefore they should exhibit what they have learned.
