Drobo: At Mary's Hospital embarks on free health screening for kidney, other disease.

The St. Mary's Hospital in Drobo in the Jaman South Municipal of the Bono Region has today Tuesday 2nd March 2022 embark on free kidney screening under the theme: "Kidney Health For All-Bridging the Knowledge Gab to Better Kidney Care" to screen over 100 participants in the Municipality.

The St. Mary's Hospital in Drobo in the Jaman South Municipal of the Bono Region has today Tuesday 2nd March 2022 embark on free kidney screening under the theme: "Kidney Health For All-Bridging the Knowledge Gab to Better Kidney Care" to screen over 100 participants in the Municipality.

Speaking to the media, the medical officer at the Hospital, Dr. Justice Sowah Adjetey explained that the 10th March of every year is world kidney Day and as a Hospital as part of their social responsibilities has to undertake free health screening to support the people in the area to boost their health status. 

He said, in Ghana according to research one out of every 10 people,  will be suffering from kidney-related diseases.

He added that he has joined the team from the Hospital to screen people not only on kidney diseases but also hypertension, HIV/AIDS, blood pressure, and the eye to help monitor the number of people suffering from these diseases. 

He said early recognition of the disease help provide the remedy to solve it before it's late in a person's body hence the Hospital plan to embark on free health screening.

He, therefore, charged the general public to take in more water and to also avoid too much intake of salt and sugar in daily diets. 

" Since it cost a lot for the treatment Kidney as dialysis treatment alone can cost an amount of Ghac1000.00 a day which not everyone can afford, there is the need to take your health especially kidney very serious", he said.

Some of the participants also expressed their satisfaction with the opportunity given to them to screen their bodies by St. Mary's Hospital.

They however called for more of such exercises to help boost their health statuses.
