Nzema East MCE Shows Leadership By Example Engages Community People In Clean-up Exercise

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Nzema East Municipal Assembly, Mrs. Elizabeth Dorcas Amoah, has shown leadership by example by leading the people in Axim on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, to engage in a massive clean-up exercise to clean the various beaches within the Axim community.

The exercise, according to her, was successfully undertaken jointly by Paramount Chief of Lower Axim Traditional Council, Awulae Attibrukusu III, Ghana Maritime Authority, Environmental personnel from the Nzema East Municipal Assembly, Zoomlion, Waste 360, Ghana Immigration Service, fishermen, and fish sellers at the beach and other individuals.

The exercise, the MCE added isn’t going to be a nine-day wonder but will be undertaken frequently to make sure the beaches are completely clean.

Madam Dorcas stressed that the decision to engage members of her community in the clean-up exercise was aimed at contributing to the well-being of the people in her municipality.
She was however unhappy as the seaweeds have covered the Axim beaches again creating a mess for the fishermen again.

She is pleading with the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) Foundation which has registered about forty personnel to take up the cleaning of the beaches to clear the seaweeds but is yet to start work, to speed up arrangements to begin before the situation gets out of hands.

Madam Dorcas stated her plans to help develop the Nzema East municipality of the Evaloe-Adjomoro Gwira Constituency in the Western Region, saying that "so I won’t sit unconcerned for the health and sanitary conditions of the people to deteriorate."

'I am working hard with the stakeholders including the chiefs and youths in the various electoral areas within the municipality to help bring development, good health, security, roads, and education to the community,” he remarked.
The MCE however, lauded members of the municipality for joining the exercise and emphasized the importance of prioritizing the health needs of the people while encouraging them to keep a clean and healthy environment.
She further called on the general public to change their attitudes towards waste management and to do their best to support a cleaner and healthier environment.
