Lack of IGF retarding development in Banda -DCE

The District Chief Executive for Banda, Honorable Emmanuel Akone is blaming lack of development of his area on their inability to mobilise funds internally.

According to the District Chief Executive, revenue mobnilisation has  been discouraged on lack of sectors like market, business entities, etc to collect revenues from.

Deliberating the challenges of generating funds for the local government with the media, the DCE said most of the citizenry do not  want to be taxed hence the difficulty.

He concluded that when the people are not paying the taxes, the district becomes burdened on finances therefore retards development.  

Every local jurisdiction has its own unique economic, social and physical characteristics and its historical tradition which are better understood by its people.

Thus, the Local Government Areas are created to provide the services which the Central Government cannot easily undertake due to their remoteness from the local communities.

Therefore, the concept of local government is to bring governance closer to the people at the grassroots, with the aim of caring for the socio-economic and development needs of the local populace.

The financial problems hindering the local governance in Ghana, most or allegations have become pertinent to poor revenue generation efforts.
