Most people who refuse to save money at the bank usually attribute it to many reasons, which sometimes sound a bit convincing.

Some of such reasons include the collapse of banks which sometimes leads to the lockup of deposits, refusal of banks to give loans to depositors, among others.

Another major reason that leads to most people's inability to save is the, "I'll save when I make enough money" syndrome.

However, the Asafo Branch Manager of the Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) in Kumasi, Mr. Sampson Anokye has urged Ghanaians to learn how to save with the little they have.

According to him, one does not have to acquire a lot of money before he or she makes a saving rather people can start with the little amount of money in their pocket.

He added that the perception people have that they want to get an abundance of money before they do investments do not work in that trend but it makes them poor forever.

"When you think there's not enough to make savings, you only begin to spend the little you spend, because you think that little is not enough to save. Five or ten is enough to start saving, don't wait to make millions before you begin to think of saving", he advised.

His comment comes after a survey conducted by this reporter revealed that most people who refuse to save money think they have not made enough to enable them to save.

Mr. Anokye disclosed that he once counseled a polythene bag seller who had the same thought that she was not making enough to enable her to save at the bank.

According to him, the woman, after heeding his advice made a huge amount of money within a year. He said the woman is now a big-time businesswoman.

Mr. Anokye however, urged customers to find good banks to start saving the little they have accumulated and he believes they will become millionaires in the near future.
