Nungua Mantse Faces Fresh Trouble! As Osokrono Youth Issue Warning

The Osokrono We Akutson youth group from Nungua Salem in Accra, have issued a stern warning to the Paramount Chief of the Nungua Traditional Area, Prof. King Odaifio Welentsi III, regarding his possession of a sacred, historical, and symbolic emblem belonging to Osokrono We Akutson.

The youth could not fathom why the Nungua Mantse allegedly held the sacred emblem during a procession through the Nungua township on Thursday, July 23, 2026.

Aggrieved youth questioned why the chief handled their sacred item inside a cemetery during the event.

The youth condemned the action as unacceptable and a traditional disaster. 

This warning was contained in a strongly worded letter dated Saturday July 25, 2026 and copied to Africa TODAY NEWS.

The one page letter was copied to Wor Konor Nuumo Borkete Larweh Tsuru Gborbu Wulomo Shitse, the Kpeshi District Police Commander, the interior Minister , the NlB ,Krowor Municipal Asembly, Greater Accra Regional Police Comander, the Registra Nungua Traditional Council, Registra of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, Dodowa, Obrempon Nii Alabi Dzenge Vl ,Nungua Manklalo, Nii Addo Dankwa V, Nungua Akwaashontse and Nii Borte Okpele Jalesane, Nungua Youth Chief.

The letter was also submitted to Nii Borte Anokwafo, the Osokrono We Oblantai Mantse, the Lumor Borte We Akutsotse, the Osokrono We Akutsotse, the Nii Dzenge We Akutsotse, the Nii Borkwei We Akutsotse, the Oofu We Akutsotse, the Nii Mantse We Akutsotse, the Nii Adjin We Akutsotse, the Nii Moi We Akutsotse, and the Nii Odaiteitse We Akutsotse.

The letter states that it has come to the attention of the youth that during your Ohenease procession through the Nungua township on Thursday, July 23, 2026, coming from your cemetery, you were observed holding an egg in your hand.

RE: CAUTIONARY NOTICE AND LEGAL WARNING ON THE UNAUTHORIZED USE OF THE OSOKRONO WE CLAN EMBLEM

The Youth of the Osokrono We Clan of Nungua present our compliments and write to bring to your attention a matter of serious concern.

It has come to the notice of the Youth that during your Ohenease procession through the Nungua township on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from your cemetery, you were observed holding an EGG in your hand.

The hand holding an EGG is a sacred, historical, and symbolic emblem that is the exclusive property of the Osokrono We Clan of Nungua.

 It represents our heritage, identity, and spiritual authority.

Since you do not hail from the Osokrono We Clan, but from Mantse We clan, we find it disturbing that you would use an emblem which belongs to another clan without prior approval or permission from the Osokrono We Clan.  

Such conduct is contrary to Ga Customary Law and Traditional practice. 

It is provocative, has the potential to incite tension, and can lead to breaches of public peace within the Nungua township.

Indeed, your action flared up tempers and nearly sparked off a nasty incident in the town. It was only through the timely intervention of some Elders of the Osokrono We Clan that the irate youth were restrained to forestall peace and tranquility.

LEGAL CAUTION

This letter therefore serves as a formal caution and legal notice to you.  

Be advised that the continued unauthorized use of the Osokrono We Clan’s emblem and paraphernalia may compel us to seek redress through the appropriate authorities, including:  

1. The Nungua Traditional Council

2. The Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs  

3. The Courts of competent jurisdiction for impersonation, infringement, and breach of peace.

We therefore demand that you immediately desist from the use of any emblem, symbol, or paraphernalia belonging to the Osokrono We Clan.

We further advise all chiefs, sub-chiefs, clan heads, and citizens to refrain from using any chief's or clan’s property, symbols, or emblems that do not belong to them.

 Any intended use must first be communicated to and approved in writing by the original owner and custodian of the emblem.

We trust that you will treat this matter with the urgency and respect it deserves.
