Northern Regional Minister, NEDCo/VRA continues to punish NDC's stronghold in Tamale

Residents of Kublemahagu Electoral Area which happens to be the traditional stronghold for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Tamale South Constituency of the Northern Region have for the past 15 days slept in darkness under the harsh weather condition of the north.

This follows the refusal of the Northern Electricity company and the Volta River Authority to restore power in the area after their misunderstanding with a resident.

Some field workers of the electricity company last two weeks accused the said resident of obstructing their work, which led to a scuffle between them.

The company's decision to punish occupants of the area instead of the accused person is sanctioned by the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu for reasons yet to be determined by Soireenews.

Speaking on a live radio program in Tamale, the Minister threatened the good people of Kublemahagu, stating that the area will not get power until they produce the accused person to the police.

The opposition NDC in the Constituency and leading members of the party, chiefs, and Imams have rendered unqualified apologies to the electricity company and the Minister to soften their stands, it has since not yielded positive results.

Both the residents and the opposition party have argued to the effect that, the Minister and the electricity company cannot use their hidden agenda, especially someone's supposed mistake to punish an entire Community.

To instill fear in the residents, Assemblyman for the area, Mr. Ahmed Mohammed was arrested on Thursday 17th, 2022 by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service for his consistent outcry and follow-ups at the Electricity company.

He was sadly accused by the police of obstructing investigations in the area, which he emphatically refused.

Soireenews has gathered that residents of Kublemahagu are not getting power anytime soon due to the interest of the Regional Minister.
