North Tongu NPP Race: I am In The Race To Beat Okudzeto Ablakwa In 2024 David Nkegbe Agornyrah

A 47-year-old business mogul who doubles as a public servant, Mr David Nkegbe Agornyrah, has picked up the nomination forms to enable him to contest the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate primary in the North Tongu Constituency of the Volta Region.

He promised to serve with a clear direction, focused mission and an innovative bottom to top management approach when given the node to win the race and subsequently lead the party to retain the seat in the 2024 showdown.

The young outspoken politician was confident of winning the race to lead the party to win the parliamentary seat from National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 general election in the first time of Ghana's political history.

Mincing no words, Mr Agornyrah, who is the current North Tongu Constituency Secretary,
has sent strong warning messages to the incumbent member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa, to start preparing for his defeat in the 2024 general election.

According to Mr Agornyrah who has been in active politics many years ago, he is going to cause  a tsunami in North Tongu Constituency of the Volta Region in the 2024 showdown when he wins the NPP parliamentary candidate race.

He stressed that an upsetting victory the size of a tsunami will hit Mr Okudzeto-Ablakwa and he expects that he will be crowned as a new MP on the ticket of the NPP to represent the people in the North Tongu after the 2024 polls.

Mr Agornyrah who has international business links pledged to adopt vibrant strategies to win more people to join his party when elected NPP parliamentary candidate to win the North Tongu Parliamentary seat from the NDC for the first time in 2024 in Ghana's political history.

He stated that the sitting MP for North Tongu has failed woefully to develop the North Tongu in the areas of health, education, road network, sanitation, water, youths employment  as he promised to do since he elected MP to represent the constituents till today.

He, therefore, called and advised Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa not to contest as MP for North Tongu Constituency in the 2024 Parliamentary elections to avoid disgrace

"We have admitted that we lost the 2020 parliamentary elections but I can assure Ghanaians that coming 2024, NPP under my leadership will win the North Tongu parliamentary seat and I want to state that, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa has been MP since 2016 to stop contesting again else in 2024 he will be disgraced.

"...this is because majority of the people in the various electoral areas within the North Tongu irrespective of their political affiliation have begun to love my parliamentary candidature because they have seen good leadership skills in me and that they have declared their unflinching support to vote massively for me to defeat the incumbent MP in the 2024 poll," Mr Agornyrah hinted.

He indicated that when given the node to serve as the MP for the constituency they would be no more experience poverty, saying "if I become your leader, I will work had to reduce  poverty during my time."

He assured that if he elected the parliamentary candidate for the party in the constituency, he would work hard to empower the grassroots for the party’s victory in the 2024 general elections.

"Our grassroots deserve the very best, and lam the  right person to empower grassroots of the NPP in the North Tongu Constituency. I am a man with the finest of human qualities, fashioned with a character that spells confidence, credibility, and capacity.

"I am a servant  who is ever ready to truly give the constituents qualitative leadership.I am a doer and not a promiser. I am a man of my word, who is fully ready and prepared to reorganize the grassroots for the task ahead," the NPP North Tongu parliamentary candidate hopeful further assured.

The hard-working and  outspoken young politician observed that party grassroots need to be empowered at the polling station level in order to have constant, efficient, and effective communication between them and executives.

According to him, strengthening the base of the party and a good strategy are all the NPP needed to break the right cycle jinx in the 2024 general election.

He explained that members, supporters, and sympathisers of NPP at the moment ought to organise and manage their polling Station activities to attract more people to the fold of the “Elephat family”

When given the nod, Mr Agornyrah maintained that he will lent support of Agribusiness for those interested in farming, adding that he would work to improve the agricultural value chain in the area.

"When given the nod, I would develop political strategic plans to set up effective education funds to assist supporters and members, including the people in the constituency who seek higher education. I am going to work hard to develop talent and skills development for youth in various vocational trades. I would design a plan to ensure the development of the health and welfare scheme for members of the NPP in the constituency, including the entire constituents, " Mr Agornyrah assured.

Mr Agornyrah was speaking in an interview with Soireenews.com after he received his nomination forms, which were  picked on his behalf by the North Tongu Constituency polling station executives

"I want to thank the polling station executives, electoral area coordinators and constituency executives for the confidence and believe they have in me to acquire the nomination forms and l want to assure them l would not disappoint them. I am still David, they know.

"So when we go to the primaries,  l still believe that they are going to vote massively for me to win the race and make ourselves ready for battle for the 2024 showdown," he noted.

As the NPP gears to conduct its presidential primaries, it has also opened nominations for parliamentary candidate primaries in the orphan constituencies where the party has no seats.

One of such constituencies is the North Tongu constituency of the Volta Region, which has been traditionally an NDC seat.

However Mr Agornyrah was optimistic that he would be elected by the delegates to lead the NPP to win the seat from the NDC since the incumbent MP, Mr Okudzeto-Ablakwa has failed the constituents to lobby for the needed developmental projects to be brought to the constituency.

Mr Agornyrah who has been instrumental to the development of the NPP in the North Tongu Constituency, regional and national levels told journalists that he was only in the race to "win the seat for the NPP and provide the people of North Tongu with the needed representation in parliament."

Asked if he thinks he can win the seat since the North Tongu is still remains the electoral strong hold of the NDC, Mr Agornyrah responded that "I am in this race because the people are calling on me after seeing my many years of dedicated service to the party and the constituency."

Touching on her ability to beat the NDC, the NPP young outspoken politician stressed that "I have the charisma that permeates the political divide, members of the NDC love me and some of them said they will vote for the NPP should I appear on the ballot paper in 2024.... so yes, I can beat the NDC and Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa."

The former Assembly Member for Mafi Dedukope Electoral Area noted that he has finally decided to contest the parliamentary candidate primary based on the clarion
call by all NPP faithfuls in the area.

"In arriving at this decision, I have weighed my capabilities and assessed the dynamics of the constituency, and have come to an irresistible conclusion that I have what it takes not only to win the upcoming primaries, but to ultimately annex the seat for the New Patriotic Party, come 2024.

At the risk of re-stating the obvious, I have dedicated the past years of my life serving the New Patriotic Party in various capacities and consolidating the Party's base to make it stronger for any contest against the NDC. This, I believe, I have achieved well - both in my capacity as Constituency Secretary and in my private capacity.

"I am by this statement, making a passionate call to every well-meaning party person to come on board and support this worthy cause. I urge all my supporters to refrain from acts that could potentially disunite the party. I advise that we do a decorous and issue-based campaign, devoid of invectives and provocations.

"I shall in the coming days, outdoor my plans and vision for the party and the Constituency at large. The central theme of my campaign will be *"uniting the party to consolidate our gains through genuine grassroots empowerment,"* he noted.
