NON-Compliance Indicipline Still Remains The  Major Cause Of Fire Outbreak In Ghana- Businessman

Mr Afful Manu Benjamin a businessman in Tain District in the Bono Region is blaming indiscipline, ignorance, and noncompliance to recommend basic fire safety measures and protocols as the major causes of fire outbreaks in various farming and business communities in Ghana.

According to Mr. Afful, most of the fire outbreaks recorded could have been prevented with the magnitude of damage reduced if people abide by the principles of fire prevention and controls.
He added that the situation is worse in various commuters cashew farms, market places, other businesses environs, and even homes where most of the people do not seek preventive measures which is a very bad practice.
He concluded that there is a need for the public to view the fighting of fires as a shared responsibility.
He also urged the National fire Services to deliver on its mandate by observing all the fire safety measures recommended to prevent fire outbreaks in Ghana.

The Ghana National Fire Service is known to be faced with challenges.
Some of the challenges include lack of appropriate logistics to fight fires, inaccessibility to fire sites, inadequate training facilities, and the inability of GNFS to carry out a fire risk assessment before operations.
But the service has assured it is on course managing such challenges for better delivery of their services
