The District Chief Executive for Assin South, Ms. Felicia Amissah Ntrakwa has admonished Chiefs and Assemblymembers of the area to lead the fight against poor sanitation.

The District Chief Executive for Assin South, Ms. Felicia Amissah Ntrakwa has admonished the Chiefs and Assemblymembers of the area to lead the fight against poor sanitation.

According to her, poor sanitation conditions can undermine the health of the people therefore it fights, must be a collective responsibility of all which the chiefs and Assemblymembers must lead.

She made the statement when the Assin South District Assembly embarked on a massive clean-up exercise at Nyankomase Ahenkro ahead of the Independence Day celebration which its grand durbar will be held at Cape Coast.

She pledged that the exercise is not going to be a nine-day wonder but would maintain it to ensure the district becomes the cleanest in the region. 

Meanwhile, the Assemblymember of Nyankomase Ahenkro electoral area, Mr. David Danny Dadzie, popularly known as Hon. Peace was very elated by the District Assembly's frantic effort to improve sanitation problems in the area.

He, however, appealed to the Assembly to provide communal containers at vantage points for refuse collection.

He also advised the residents to desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse into gutters as such is a contributing factor to severe flooding and health-related problems.

On his part, the National Public Relations Officer of the Musama Disco Christo Church Rev. Moses A.Y. Gyamba who doubles as the Chairman for the Assin South Local Council of Churches called on religious organizations to spearhead the campaign against poor sanitation.

He said the church can only prosper when the members are healthy enough in all spheres therefore the church must ensure the environment is conducive for inhabitants.
