Bono GJA President  wants Journalist licensed as other Professionals

The Bono regional President of the Ghana Journalist Association, Larry Papa Kwesi Moses has said, there must be a proper structure to license journalists as it is done for Teachers, Doctors, Nurses and other professionals as some are operating without merit.

Speaking on Ark FM Issues monitored by Soiree News, Mr Papa Kwesi Moses said, “ the purpose of the Broadcasting bill before Parliament now seeks to address such issues and the press freedom we enjoy now is allowing people to go overboard”.

He said Journalist is not above the 1992 constitution therefore all must realize that we can face the law should any goes against it, adding that there was a meeting between the GJA President to discuss the current arrest of some journalist.

He added that the criminal liable law that has been removed does not mean anyone should operate outside their domain adding that most journalists are corrupt as they work for paymasters in delivering their duties, this he said is worrying calling on the Police to invite corporate but not through the Rambo style and intimidations.

 
Meanwhile, the Regional communication officer for the New Patriotic Party Asare Bediako Seth said, that former President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC has no moral right to comment about media freedom as worse happened during their tenure, calling some practices of journalist as irresponsible journalism.
