NDC's Japhet Festus Gbede Roots For Julius Debrah As Perfect Match With Mahama To Win 2024 Elections
A communication team member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Volta Region, Mr. Japhet Festus Gbede, (NDC) has declared his support for the call on the former President John Dramani Mahama to choose former Chief of Staff, Mr. Julius Debrah as running mate come 2024 general elections.

He stated that, the call from a section of some party supporters on the former President to choose the former Chief of staff in the erstwhile NDC government as the best bet to partner him into the 2024 general elections to recapture power is in the right direction.

According to him, as the a leading member of the NDC, he will fully throw his weight behind the numerous supporters across the length and breadth of the country within the party to plead with the flagbearer of the party to choose the former Chief of Staff for the good course ahead of the party.

He was of the view that, the personality of the former Chief of Staff being approachable and easily accessible to the youth of the party would help consolidate votes to ensure that the party wins the 2024 elections convincingly.
"Any keen observer of social media spaces ahead of our upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections cannot be in any doubt about the power that young people have to dictate the direction of national political discourse, so if the grassroots of our party, the National Democratic Congress, is calling for the appointment of Chief Julius Debrah as our running mate, it will be wrong politically for our dear presidential candidate, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, to ignore this clarion call.
"It is becoming clear that winning elections in Ghana often involves a vast financial war chest, which can be used to lubricate alliances of loyalty and patronage.
"Ultimately, to win, the presidential candidate and his running mate in question need to command more grassroots popularity, and this is what the other potential running mate candidates are lacking," the young NDC firebrand stressed.
According to him, the wide-ranging acceptance of Chief Julius Debrah ahead of the official declarations appears resolute due to his energetic and fired-up attributes based on a cocktail of his character, competence, experience, and compassion for the party's rank and file.
He noted that the former Chief of Staff appearance represents prudence, hope, and accountability and will energize voters across ethnic and religious divides.
He indicated that when one compares the names of other candidates lobbying, their characters, antecedents, their understanding, knowledge, discipline, and vitality that they can bring to bear, and the great efforts required to stay focused on the job, particularly looking at where the country is today and with the experience on the job, I can explicitly state that Chief Julius Debrah has an edge.
After painstaking deliberations and consultations among different stakeholders comprising youths, women, elders, activists, and firebrands of the party, he stressed that he has the mandate to appeal to President Mahama to name Chief Julius Debrah his running mate.
He mentioned that Mr Debrah remains the best man and most qualified for the job to help him take Ghanaians out of the quagmire and unfortunate depression the NPP subjected them to.
"In my next edition, I will speak about why academically, chief Julius Debrah is the best," he noted.
